Lewes
Lewes offers strong year-round appeal for those looking to live at the beach, not just invest. Its rapid growth speaks for itself—and the natural beauty must be seen to be believed.
Lewes was first settled by the Dutch in 1631 and retains a charming historic, old-fashioned feel. Home to several small museums and quaint shops, it’s a highly walkable town. Cape Henlopen State Park offers miles of trails and wildlife, a newly renovated fishing pier, a stunning beach, and the scenic meeting point of the ocean and the bay. The park also features historic war bunkers and miles of tunnels from a different era. Lewes is known for some of the best restaurants in the area, all within easy walking or biking distance. One of the town’s greatest features is its bike trail, which connects Lewes to Rehoboth and now extends west toward Georgetown, DE. When completed, the trail system will span 40 miles of safe, scenic biking with beautiful views of the bay and canal.
